Team models and providers

The models a Pi Durable Platform team may use, and model providers a team adds for itself: kinds, the address guard, private networks, discovery and what other teams see.

A team's Models page in Pi Durable Platform has two tabs:

  • Models: every model the team may use. That is the platform's models published to the team (by platform admins, see Models) and the team's own.
  • Providers: the team's own model providers, if it has any.

Template versions and agents choose from these models. Pickers mark the team's own models.

Add a provider of the team's own

Owners and admins can add a provider for the team, in the browser (never with a key or an app's token), while platform admins allow it.

Providers › Add provider. Choose its kind: OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenAI-compatible (chat completions), OpenAI Responses-compatible or Anthropic-compatible.

Enter its base URL (OpenAI and Anthropic have a default), its API key, and optionally extra headers sent with every request (up to 20).

Open the provider and use Discover models to list what it offers, or Add model manually with its ID. For each model you can set the context window, the maximum output tokens, whether it accepts images and reasons, and its prices.

The key and header values are encrypted and never shown again, to anyone. Members and editors see the providers and models, without keys.

The team's only

A team's own models are available to that team alone. They never reach another team: not through its model list, a template, an agent's model or the model gateway. A personal workspace's own models are for that workspace only.

So a team template that runs on one of the team's models can't be published to the catalog, and platform templates can't use team models.

Proxy only, through the address guard

Agents reach a team's provider only through the platform's model gateway, which adds the key. The provider's address is the team's choice, so the platform guards it:

  • It must be https.
  • It must be a public address, or inside one of the private networks platform admins listed in Admin › Settings.
  • Loopback, link-local and cloud metadata addresses are never allowed.
  • The address is checked when you save it (address_not_allowed), and resolved and checked again on every connection, so a DNS change can't point it somewhere else later. Redirects aren't followed.

If your provider is on your company network, ask your platform admins to add its network.

When adding is off

Platform admins can stop teams adding providers (Teams may add their own model providers in Admin › Settings). Existing providers keep working and can still be changed or deleted. In a personal workspace, adding needs that switch and the personal workspace switch for providers.

GET /v1/teams/{team}/limits says whether you may add one now (canAddProviders).

Change, turn off, delete

Open a provider: Models and Settings. You can replace its key, turn it off, or delete it with its models. A provider or model still used by a template or an agent can't be deleted; move them first. Platform admins see every team's providers and can turn off, change or delete them.

Changes are recorded in the team's audit log.
