Release notes v0.1.0

Pi Durable Platform v0.1.0 (2026-10-18), the first release: what's in it, the images, requirements and known limitations.

Pi Durable Platform v0.1.0, released on 2026-10-18, is the first release. Every install of it is a first install. It is development software: it has run only in the maintainer's own deployment so far.

Pi Durable Platform is an independent project. It runs agents built with Pi and its durable package, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Pi's authors.

What's in it

  • Teams and roles. Platform admins and auditors; team owners, admins, editors and members; invites. See Members and roles.
  • Personal workspaces. A one-person team for each person who signs in, while turned on; catalog templates only; default and per-workspace limits. See Your personal workspace.
  • Templates and a reviewed catalog. Versioned platform and team templates; agents pinned to a version, upgraded or rolled back by hand; team templates published after a platform admin's review. See Templates.
  • Agents with their own storage. One PostgreSQL schema and role per agent in a separate agents database, with a single writer per agent. Service-managed agents by external key for apps. See Deploying agents.
  • Launchers and hibernation. Local processes (development), Kubernetes pods, Kubernetes Agent Sandbox with optional warm pools. Idle agents hibernate after 10 minutes and wake on the next request. See Operate.
  • Model catalog. OpenAI, Anthropic and compatible providers, model discovery, publishing to teams and personal workspaces, proxy or direct access, teams' own providers, prices and usage reports with estimated cost. See Models.
  • MCP catalog. Platform and team remote MCP servers, per-version tool selection, a logging MCP proxy, and MCP servers apps supply for one thread. See MCP servers.
  • Threads. A record of every thread (listing never wakes an agent), status, an event stream for every agent, shared and private threads, message authors and metadata, and platform admins' audited reads with a reason. See Shared and private threads.
  • Access for apps. Service accounts with expiring keys, personal API keys, and OAuth Connect. See Build apps.
  • Audit log, doctor, safety checks, sealed secrets and peppered key digests. See Security model.

Both are for linux/amd64 and linux/arm64. Deploy by digest; the digests, SBOMs and checksums are also on the GitHub release. Verify the signatures with cosign v3 or newer, as in Install on Kubernetes. The database is at migration 16.

Requirements

PostgreSQL 17 with two databases, an OIDC provider, HTTPS, Kubernetes for the agent runtimes (and Agent Sandbox for that launcher), and at least one model provider. See Running Pi Durable Platform.

Known limitations

  • One platform replica. The idle reaper only knows the event streams open on its own replica; several replicas haven't been tested.
  • Budgets aren't enforced. A personal workspace's monthly budget is recorded only. Shared teams have no limit on running agents.
  • No scheduled wake-ups. A hibernated agent wakes only on a request.
  • Text only. No files, images or object storage.
  • No tool approvals. Agents call the tools their template version allows without asking.
  • Whole-view events. A thread's event stream sends the whole conversation view on each change, not deltas.
  • No paging of thread lists or conversations.
  • OAuth Connect doesn't support login_hint or prompt=none; the only scope is agents.
  • No agent transfer between teams or workspaces.
  • Messages always queue behind a running reply; steering a reply isn't exposed.
  • Fixed runtime resources: agent pods request 50m CPU and 160 MiB, limited to 1 CPU and 512 MiB.
  • No re-encryption command: keep ENCRYPTION_KEY_PREVIOUS until every sealed value has been saved again.
  • No deployment manifests (Helm, Kustomize, NetworkPolicies), no metrics endpoint, dashboards or tracing.
  • No uploaded agent code: templates only, until sandboxed runtimes are in place. Advisory locks are database-wide, and database roles server-wide.
  • Thread IDs are chosen by clients: use random ones.
  • Pi's durable package is pinned to 1.3.0; its storage conformance suite guards every upgrade.

Planned

On the project's plan, not built: files and images on object storage (per agent), budget enforcement, incremental event streams, and stronger runtime isolation before teams can upload agent code.
