Try it locally
Run Pi Durable Platform from source on your own machine, with development sign-in, local agent runtimes and a scripted demo model.
Pi Durable Platform runs on a developer's machine from a checkout of its repository. Agents run as local processes (the local launcher), sign-in uses fixed development personas, and agents answer with a scripted demo model until you configure a real one. None of this is for a reachable host: the platform refuses to start with these settings unless APP_URL is a loopback address.
What you need
- Go 1.26 or later
- Node.js 22.19 or later and pnpm 11 (for the agent runtime)
- npm (for the web app)
- Docker, for the development PostgreSQL 17
Run it
Clone the repository at the release and start PostgreSQL. make deps-up starts PostgreSQL 17 on 127.0.0.1:55432 with Docker Compose; it keeps running until make deps-down.
git clone --branch v0.1.1 https://github.com/ncecere/pi-durable-platform.git
cd pi-durable-platform
make deps-upInstall the agent runtime's packages and build the web app (the Go binary embeds it).
(cd runtime && pnpm install)
make webStart the platform. make run creates .env from .env.example the first time, applies the migrations, creates the agents database (pdp_agents) and serves http://localhost:8098.
make runOpen http://localhost:8098 and choose a persona. Dev Platform Admin is a platform admin and Dev Platform Auditor a platform auditor; Dev User, Alex Dev, Blair Dev and Casey Dev have no platform role.
As Dev Platform Admin, create a team in Admin › Teams with yourself or Alex Dev as its owner. Then open the team's Agents, choose Deploy agent, and use its Test tab.
Use a real model
The .env starts with AGENTS_MODEL_PROVIDER=demo, a scripted model that needs no key. To use a real one, either add a provider and models in Admin › Models (see Models), or make an OpenAI-compatible server the platform's default model in .env:
AGENTS_MODEL_PROVIDER=openai-compatible
AGENTS_MODEL_BASE_URL=https://models.example.com/v1
AGENTS_MODEL_API_KEY=...
AGENTS_MODEL_ID=...Other commands
| Command | Does |
|---|---|
make doctor | Checks the configuration, PostgreSQL and migrations (see doctor) |
make migrate | Applies migrations and exits |
make build | Builds bin/pi-durable-platform (run make web first to include the web app) |
make web-dev | The web app with hot reload on port 5176, using the API on 8098 |
make test | The Go tests (integration tests skip without PostgreSQL) |
make deps-down | Stops PostgreSQL and keeps its data |
Development settings only
DEV_AUTH=true, the example ENCRYPTION_KEY and API_KEY_PEPPER in .env.example, AGENTS_LAUNCHER=local, AGENTS_CREATE_DATABASE=true and an http:// APP_URL are all refused unless APP_URL is a loopback address. Never expose a development instance. To install it for real, see Operate.
